Organizing Art Arive Symposium in Kansai
In October 2017, JCRI is planning the opening of the second Art Archive Symposium in Osaka. The first symposium was held in May 2014, by Osaka Art Trip Museum, Osaka Art University, and JCRI. This symposium was aimed to understand the current condition of the art archive in Kansai, inviting panelists from Kyoto National Modern Art Museum, Kyoto City Art University Archival Research Center, Keio University Art Center, Osaka Art University, Osaka Art Trip and other museums and universities, and reported on the art archives, which each of the institutions are working on and discussed on the future issues.
Archive, which has the function to collect the information and utilize it in the future is a very important asset for not only museums and universities but for companies which are surviving highly informed society. Some companies are already starting to construct company archives and many companies are very much interested in archives.
In the symposium which we are planning this year, we are inviting panelists from companies which already have begun to compile archives and will discuss on company archives’ characteristics and subjects focusing on archive construction within companies. (details on symposium will be updated on the home page)
